FC Wittmund had won their first match in the tournament against Karvinsti Loupežníci CF with 1:0 via a penalty in the 90th minute.

It was an average match with not so many goal chances. In the statistics FC Wittmund had a few mor goal chances and ball possession as well. Most possible chances were prevented by the goalkeepers who controlled their penalty area well. As the match went on and both teams unsuccessfully tried to score a goal, everybode must have thought this will end in a draw. But then in the 90th minute a Karvinsti Loupežníci-defender fouled in retrospect unnecessary a Wittmund-player in the penalty area and the referee decided on a penalty. FC Wittmund didn't miss their chance and scored the winning goal. Therefore it was a bit of an unexpected and lucky victory for FC Wittmund.

"Everything went well in the end.", said the penalty scorer Erich Große gladly after the match.

"It would have been more satisfying to win with an ingame-goal and not with a penalty in the last minute. I fear the rematch could be more difficult for us as Karvinsti Loupežníci CF might want to take revenge for this.", commented the coach Erwin Mack.

"Well, a victory is a victory. It might be sad to say it, but in the end all what matter are the results and not how you haved archieve the results. And in a tournament I will take whatever I can get, even if it is a last-minute-penalty-victory. Hopefully this won't happen to be decisive in the long run so we don`t have to rely on luck instead of our skill to win the matches.", said manager Nguyen dryly after the match.

On a sidenote, the both other teams in the group, Vyskov and Exercitus, played a 1:1 draw, so FC Wittmund is for now on place 1 in the group.

The first match for FC Wittmund wasn't really elating, but we can always hope for a better match and more goals next time.
