Trueblue United† - Rookies Make Their Mark
Going into their 10th season, Trueblue United are no stranger to success. With multiple league championships and an array of National and League Cup titles, United have proven to be consistent leaders from the net out.
Their success has been widely down to smart player signings, providing the team with the punch to push them to new heights.
This season, the club appear to be heading in a new direction, led not just by star players with big salaries but also by 2 incredibly talented rookies; Ace Keast and Daniel Roberts.
At 17 years of age, Keast is the youngest goalie in recent years to stand between the pipes at United. A fast moving, smart keeper, Keast has shown to be agile and flexible, going 3-0 in his 3 starts this season. The future for this young keeper is very positive indeed, with potential National Team selection not far from his sights.
At the other end of the field is Daniel Roberts, the youngest player to wear the United kit. At just 16 years of age, Roberts has started 1 league matches (played 4) and has showcased his incredible potential with smooth footwork and a blistering goal from out wide in game 4 of the season. With maximum potential and high qualities, Roberts has already made selection for the Australian Under-17 National Team and looks to be a regular on the NT squads for years to come.
United Captain, Kane Billington, said on Roberts; "What can I say about Roberts. He has strength on the ball and an ever growing finesse with his shots, much like a young Wayne Rooney in his early days."
Rooney or not, Roberts, as well as Keast appear to be up for the challenge of Division 1 league competition.
