"We have come off a relatively successful pre-season campaign with 3 wins and 3 losses against tough competition. The team has begun to gel well together and are competing strongly in all aspects of the park."

With teams very close to each other in terms of skill at the beginning stages of the season a bid of luck will be needed if Otago United want to get some wins under their belt early but captain and goalkeeper Jason Benge was openly confident in the build-up to todays game.

"We are very tactically prepared under Eric and the team is confident of coming away with the result. If we can give 110% and make sure we challenge hard for all the 50-50's then we know that we can come away with the result."
