Kanada Ontario Alpha Particles - Nuclei News: Season 3, Edition 1: OAP Sign 4 to One-Game Contracts in Order to Field a Team for Opening Night Due to Injuries and Training Camps

OAP management have signed 4 players to one-game contracts. The signings will play the season and home opener against highly touted HL Football before being given their termination papers.

Head coach Brian Arseneault said "These are hard-working guys. They don't have a lot of skill or experience, but they work hard. For them, it's a dream. To play in on of the top leagues in the world in front of 12,000 people plus live TV. They know the importance of the game. Don't expect an easy win for HLF with the absence of our key players. We will be doing everything to ensure our replacements give them a run for their money."

The signings, which include two Slovakians, a German and an Austrian, all are eager for their 15 minutes (or 90 minutes rather) of fame. The took to the field on Monday for a friendly game (which they won 1-0) and looked to be enjoying the moment. Family and friends have flown to Guelph to watch the players play what is likely their last game despite the ripe young age of 17-19.

"We are all very excited" said Thomas Maschall the only player who arrived that speaks fluent English (all-be-it slightly broken). We agreed to the terms of the contract upon transfer. We know this is our shot. Our opportunity. This is our Eminiem's Lose Yourself. You best believe we'll leave it all on the field on Tuesday. We've played our whole lives for this one game."

The schedule for OAP doesn't get any easier with the arrival of their star players. While Cornwell and Gartlan are nursing back to heath and even more than a couple weeks away from returning, OAP will face a much more deep much more challenging first division this season. Expect many close games. OAP have won many games with sound defence. Each of the first two seasons they have given up the fewest goals in the league (16 in season 1 and 19 this past season over a total of 84 games) averaging around 0.4 goals against a game. If they can continue their stellar defending and get some more scoring to win those 0-0 and 1-1 games, OAP should find themselves in good company come seasons end.
