Philadelphia FC† - Philly dominates in 5-0 rout
Going into Sunday's game against Wenatchee SC, the expectations for Philadelphia FC were through the roof. They had signed several good players, and fans were looking for an immediate impact. They got what they were looking for.
As a sold out crowd of 1,600 in Philly filed into their seats, the game got underway. Just two minutes into the game, defender Pavol Hell potted his first goal in Philly off of a cross from Pontus Englund, making it a 1-0 game. Later in the half, Joe Young would score his league-leading 10th goal to extend the lead to two. That lead would stand at half time.
In the second half, the spotlight was on newly-signed forward Pontus Englund. Englund scored in the 52nd minute to make the game 3-0. That lead would not last for long. Just 5 minutes later, Englund would extend the lead to four. But he wasn't done yet. In the 67th minute, Englund scored on a pass from Havel Kacalek for the natural hat trick. That would be the final score.
Not surprisingly, Pontus Englund was name the man of the match for his hat trick effort. Wenatchee SC only had one attempt on target, which was in the first half.
