קנדה Ontario Alpha Particles - Nuclei News: Season 4, Edition 8: OAP Reaches Goal, Hosts World Famous Club and Strives for League Cup Glory

With 8 games remaining in the season, the Alphas set out to win 5 of their final 8, hence obtaining 15 points through 8 games. With 7 games completed they Alphas were on the brink. Win and they're in for another year of I.1, lose and they could see themselves relegated. After a very tough season, it came down to the final day. With those 7 of the last final 8 games the Alphas had 12 points - a win would help them reach their goal.

Fans packed Curium-244 place with HL Football in town. In the end of the night, the Alphas would come away with a win which would vault them into 9th place in the league.

"We're quite happy with the end to our season. It was a strong finish for us, and anything less would have been a catastrophe for our team and fans. We had a rough few weeks this season but we've made up for it with our stretch drive" said the goalkeeper Pemberton from the Alpha's training camp in Long Point Ontario.

"It's been a good hard week. Management is good at letting us have fun, but the coaches really push us to get better. It's nice that we're in such an amazing area of our country and province. It's always a treat come seasons end to head to the off-site training grounds and reflect" said Tyson Borden.

While the Alpha's main 11 were mostly at camp, the rest of the club would host the world famous Serbian club, Kraljevina Srbija and their manager IzzaX. The Serbian outfit is the most popular club in the world and arguably the best. Fans stormed Curium-244 place to get glimpses of their star-studded roster. In the end the Alpha's reserves would put up a strong fight only losing 1-0 on a 65' Stefan Milenković goal. After the match, IzzaX met with the media and had this to say:

"It was our honour to go to Canada to play a friendly with such a famous and good team. So, due to all respect to our opponent, we played with almost first team in that match. The result was as expected, very tight, but at the end we prevailed and took home a 1-0 win. The only goal in the match was a masterpiece of our young prospect forward Stefan "Prva Violina" Milenkovic. He has proven again his scoring ability and we can say after this match that we will have a remarkable forward in the future. He will also remember this match as this was his first match as a starter for our club. Lastly, thanks for our host and we expect that we will have a chance to be a host to them in near future!"

canucks357 was on hand for the game and also commented to the media sitting beside IzzaX at the post-game press conference.

"You know, when someone bugs you long and hard enough, eventually you give in. That's what it took to get IzzaX's club out here!" There was a slight chuckle from the media and spectators. "We were very fortunate to get such an illustrious club to play in Guelph. Our fans will forever remember it and certainly our players as well. We hope to continue a strong and happy relationship with IzzaX's clubs and wish them all the best in their trophy collection. One thing is for sure, they got more hardware than The Home Depot up on Woodlawn Ave. in Guelph!"

With that the private charter took the Serbians back to play for their bronze Champion's League match in Finland which they were 3-0 winners. The same night the Alphas claimed 3rd in the Cup Winners' Cup.

The last order of business for the boys in yellow was the newly added League Cup. This single-game knockout 16-team tournament commenced Sunday with the Alphas on the road at Reflex in Montreal. The big boys were back from camp and were able to secure a 1-0 a.e.t. with a PK from CB Tyson Borden.

"It's going to be a long road to get to an international cup but we are confidence we can do it. Tonight was the first step to getting there... each win puts us one step closer. It looks like we got Vancouver FC on Tuesday so that will certainly be another tough match. We are confident and will certainly put our best foot forward. Another win and our hopes look good for international cup play. That'll leave 4 teams remaining, if 3 of those clubs are in the Champion's League or Cup Winners' Cup next season we got an automatic ticket to the SuperLeague Cup. But we're gunning for the first ever league cup trophy here and won't settle for anything else. We wish everyone luck and look forward the coming challenge" said Jacob Hodge the Alpha's premiere striker.

And with that we conclude another installment of Nuclei News. Sadly, there were no comments from Aowyr. Word is he's quite busy pulling his hair out with his own League Cup endeavors. Word is he looks like Scotty Bowman now just with a goatee.
