JSF Lightning† - FC Yoshi: Season 4, Volume: 1
Toronto, Ontario - After a long two week layover, Season #4 got underway at 16:30 EST with FC Yoshi hosting Out of Control at FC Yoshi Stadium. A very highly anticipated match to open the brand new season. Out of Control were coming into the game after a solid campaign, finishing 2nd in the tough II.2. FC Yoshi, however, faded down the stretch and finished 6th. However, luck was on the side of FC Yoshi with Out of Control missing several of their top players. Kester and Barrie were out with injuries, while suspensions from last season had Heeney and Thompson on the sidelines. The only injury coming into the game for FC Yoshi was Moss, coming off two training injuries that cost him the end of season training camp.
FC Yoshi got off to a quick start in this game. In the 3rd minute, Engwall pounced on a great opportunity when the referee waved play on after an elbow to the face of Martin. Moss took the ball and sent it forward ahead of the surprised defence of Out of Control. Engwall, who bolted up from the back line, deked out a defender before lobbing it over the keeper for a 1 goal lead.
Then, McGurty single-handedly kept Out of Control in the game with stop after stop, frustrating the FC Yoshi offence. He made 5 great stops before Moss finally broke through in the 82nd minute, finishing some elaborate passing and setup from Martin and Farrugia. And with that, FC Yoshi was on its way to its first victory of Season 4.
The match report showed a hefty difference between the two teams. FC Yoshi had 10 shots on goal and hit the iron 3 times. 7 shots were sent wide. Out of Control only had 3 shots on target and 3 were wide, but Crvk was strong on each of the 3 saves. Donovan and Brayson received yellow cards in this game so we'll see if they are able to keep their emotions in check in the upcoming games.
But with 8,717 fans on hand to witness today's victory, you can count on maximum support as FC Yoshi pushes its way for a NC title and a berth in League 1.1.
