Flower City SC† - Season 4
Well, another season in the books for FCSC.
3 Years done and it's it's time for a re-set. Flower City had a disappointing season and as part of a new mind set.
FCSC started by setting up their annual end of season training camp. The starting 11 plus youngster and central defender of the future Ray Hawman were sent off for some off season training. The head coach of FCSC; Ashley Keats made himself available for comment: "I like doing this every year. We get the first team to work on the finer points of their game at camp. We like our possession game and this year we didn't execute that well. We'll work hard on improving that as well as letting the second team get a run out in some friendlies. I've left the second team under the leadership of my associate coach, Carter Green, which also gives him the chance to grow as a coach. All in all, it's a great time for the future of our club."
Ashley was spot on in terms of the future of the club. Team owner, mrnegative15, held a press conference at 7:00 PM in the press centre at Gaba Gala Field at Chrysler Park.
"Today marks a new day in Flower City club history. As most people know our original 3 year sponsorship deal with Chrysler ended recently and we're here to announce that we signed a new deal. As of today, FCSC and Rogers Communications are partners. Rogers will not only be our kit sponsor, but will also buy the naming rights to our club's field which will officially be known as "Rogers Pitch" from here on in. Of course, as part of this re-vamp Flower City decided it was time to move our identity to something a little bit more modern and fit our identity. Our new crest contains a new flower and the slogan "Verenigde Wij Staan". The slogan is in dutch as we try to play a very dutch style of soccer, almost a clone of total football. The slogan means "united we stand". Our new kits also have significance. The home green is reminiscent of the Vancouver Whitecaps look from their days in the NASL, which was quite possibly the best Canadian professional soccer club of all time. The away red kit is red to represent TFC and Canada. TFC being the first Canadian team in MLS and of course red is the colour Canada wears in all compititions, be it Soccer, Hockey or, otherwise."
