JSF Lightning† - FC Yoshi: Moving Upwards Step by Step
Building for the future requires a strong core of players, a dedicated manager, but most of all, it requires chemistry between players to the point where one can read the others' mind. Usually, this may take a few seasons to develop but the youngsters of FC Yoshi displayed maturity beyond their years in developing into a perennial contender for the future.
Sporting a 33-7-2 record, FC Yoshi finished 1st in division III.5, earning Manager ftyoshi his first ever Soccer trophy. That was a strong improvement from their first season in which they finished 5th and looked disorganized at times. Not only was their record impressive, their Goal differential was off the charts with 92 goals for while only conceding 13 goals all season. 6 players of FC Yoshi made the top 50 Goals Scored list with Dirk Moss (#3), Marcelo Farrugia (#6), and Annio Nocerino (#9) finishing in the top 10. with players improving from the season before, next season should be a breakout year for all the players, especially Nocerino who received his 2nd straight All-Star Team nomination.
Another area of improvement was the National Cup run for FC Yoshi. After being eliminated in the 2nd round in their inaugural season, FC Yoshi surprised many teams and made it to the Quarterfinals. Although they didn't advance further, they've shown that the youngest team in Canada will do many things in the future.
With the core roster set, Manager ftyoshi will be looking to build from within with youth pulls and develop current facilities. Hopefully, with that in mind, they'll be a powerhouse to be reckoned with in the long run.
