From the transcript of the big press conference held this morning by the owner of the club formerly known as Spikes Blue Devils FC:

Owner: “We are proud to present the new name of our great team!“
(fanfare)
Owner: “It will be SpikesClub of Silly Kicks!“
(silence)
Reporter, obviously distracted: “What, of Pretty Tits?“

Owner: “No, that would be silly, don‘t you think? It‘s Silly Kicks, dear.“

Another Reporter: “But why on earth silly kicks?“

Owner: “Because it‘s a great name for a great team. Because we want to have a name that represents what our team stands for.“

Third Reporter: “And what would that be?“

Owner: “We see ourselves in the great tradition of teams like The Cricket Club of Silly Points or... Err, you know, other sports clubs that follow the good old british tradition of combining motion and absurdity.
And don‘t forget, this season we won our first major title in a very silly way!“

Yet another reporter: “Good point. But speaking of which, why change the name in the first place now that you‘re defending champion.“

Owner: “Precisely because of that. When we came up with Spikes Blue Devils FC we were just bored and uninspired. That‘s not a name for football club, that‘s a name for a football club, the american kind.
Now that we play in the champions league we simply need a proper name. And we got one. We are rich now and famous and have a silly new sponsor that even provided us with an emblem and shirts and a pennant...“

One reporter left: “I have the feeling the recent events made you a little megalomaniac. Don‘t you think your fans will be upset by the sudden change?“

Owner: “They will adopt. Change their fan club names into something silly. Celebrate the CL matches, whatever.
But honestly, who cares? We will have new fans now that we play CL. We are famous and rich! We can even buy fans!“
(Laughs manically, throws some money in the air, leaves the podium and walks in a very silly way out of the room.)
