كندا Ontario Alpha Particles - Nuclei News: Season 8, Edition 1

In a mandate made my owner and CEO canucks357, his hockey and soccer teams will both be adopting a green travel strategy where they will restrict the amount of travel each team does for friendly matchups.
“It works on all levels, it’s really a three-pronged win for everyone” said canucks357. The plan is that the team will mostly travel to domestic (North American) clubs and will generally accept hosting matches for domestic clubs as well. “This will be a huge boost to the environment. Our team jets, despite being engineered to be as efficient as possible, consume around 10L per km flown. It’s around 12,000km round-trip so over the course of a season if we cut out two trans-Atlantic flights per week we’ll save nearly four million litres of fuel consumed and the resulting emissions.”
Some are saying this green movement is really just a way to get extra PR points for what really boils down to money.
“Sure we save money but not travelling as much” said canucks357, “but we also draw more fans as local teams tend to have support in derby matches. Even then, if you ignore all that, what really sealed the deal was what was best for our players. They were consistently sleeping and basically living on our aircraft. It’s no way to live. We’re a franchise that puts our players first and we want them to be home sleeping in their own beds getting a good night’s rest every chance we get.”
Analysts estimate that by adopting this method the organization will save a minimum of 100,000,000 PPM$ per team per season assuming they only lock in 2 domestic games per week. Looking at the schedule for both clubs, the matches are almost entirely against domestic teams which likely will drive the savings higher than 200M per team.
“I think it’s great!” said Redshift captain Braden Debeau. “We get to beat up on the likes of the Saints and Atikokan more often. It’s always fun beating those guys... never get tired of it.” There was a loud roar from his fellow teammates who got a kick out of that comment. The Redshift have been rolling this year and are strong promotion contenders and in a sound financial position.
“My thoughts on the new mandate?” asked Tyson Borden the Alphas’ captain. “No complaints with anyone here. The European guys on our team always like the odd trip to the motherland. We’ve had a fantastic season so far and hope to close it out with a league and league cup title.”
The Alphas are currently in cruise mode in the league table and all but guaranteed the title. Their financial situation on the other hand is not so good.
“It’s something we’re working on” said canucks357. “We’ve had a few tough years but it looks like promotion will get us back up there and stronger than ever financially. That’s the plan anyways. We’ll find out once we get our sponsor offers in in the coming weeks.”
