Elsewhere Neverminds† - Derby Day in Teesside
It's time again. The sun is shining, a slight breeze in brushing the grass of the arena and the Saxon Miners play host to another derby in their stadium. Elsewhere Neverminds, currently 2nd in the league are coming to town, hopeful to keep their chances for participation in the promotion round alive. The home team, the Saxon Miners, are currently on sixth and according to their GM Dean Oakshott it's been a good season. "After I took over the team roughly a third through this season we put a lot of work into making this a season a s good as possible and I think we have succeeded. We'll finish the season well in the first half of the table and it holds a lot of promise for next season."
Head coach of the Elsewhere Neverminds, Marilam Neto, said: "We got Kaarlo back in time to play the derby for us, which is obviously a boost for the whole team. I think the guys who have played in his place while he was injured, Absalon and Gracij have performed admirably and now it's time for Kaarlo to show why we still missed him. I think will finish this season alright, but now, first of all, it's Derby day. A day for the world to stand still."
Indeed, the world takes a breath, leans back and watches on as Derby Day unfolds. Kaarlo Rosti, together with Rodrigo Mascherano the most prolific goal scorer for Elsewhere Neverminds reutrns from three weeks absence due to injury and is hopeful to contribute what has already been a successful season.
"Of course I'm delighted to return and just in time for the Dergby with the Saxon Miners," he said in an interview. "I not only want to return however, I want to score goals and help my team overcome our local rivals for the double this season."
Elsewhere Neverminds were close 1-0 winners in the first edition of the Teesside derby, their back-then goalkeeper scored a late penalty. Reminded of that Dean Oakshott of the Saxon Miners said: "I certainly hope that we'll finish with 11 men tonight, not concede due to a stupid unnecessary mistake like a penalty and give ourselves the best chance of winning. I hope it'll be a clean and thoroughly enjoyable match, but of course I want to win in the end."
Marilam Neto had the following to say about tonight's match: "Our team is ina good position to leave the pitch victorious again. Milan (Kytka), our best assist provider in midfield is out, but someone else I'm sure will jump in his place and provide, like Ricardo (Abreu) for example and give our strikers a good chance to score from open play and win this derby match fair and square. Really we need to win to secure our place in the promotion round with only two games left after this, and I'm sure our team won't disappoint."
And now, lean back, take in the last rays of sunshine, let the breeze brush the hair out of your eyes and watch on as the Saxon Miners and Elsewhere Neverminds fight it out for the dominance in Teesside in what is promising to be one of those titanic matches that you won't forget anytime soon.
